Volunteering
Hundreds of people in Glasgow volunteer their time to help other people every week...
Volunteers come from all backgrounds, age groups and experiences - mothers, young people, lawyers, teachers and artists. Everyone has something they can share to help other people. This year employees from our local Sainsbury's store in Woodlands Road are volunteering to help us raise funds and increase awareness of Glasgow YWCA.
Benefits
There are many benefits to becoming involved with an organisation as a volunteer, including:
Increase your confidence
Learn new skills
Meet new people and improve your social skills
Improve your employment prospects
Volunteers are always welcomed at Glasgow YWCA, in fact several of our staff members started thier relationship with the centre as a volunteer. If you are interested in supporting our work and able to donate some of your time and skills please let us know. No experience is necessary, just the ability to make a regular commitment and plenty of enthusiasm.
Opportunities
We offer opportunities in reception (we run a Reception Skills course for those with little or no experience) and administration, or as volunteer tutors: this might be teaching language skills, health & relaxation, dance, art & crafts, managing money...anything you can help other people to learn and understand, or perhaps you have a skill such as journalism or marketing that you can use to support our work.
Whatever you can do, we would love to hear from you.
Management Committee
All members of our Management Committee, which oversees the governance of Glasgow YWCA, are also volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a part of our Management Committee or would like more information please contact Rose Anne on 0141 248 5338 or email rdempster@ywcaglasgow.org.
