After School Care
Glasgow YWCA currently operates three after school care services for children aged 5-11 years in the west/central area of the city – from Garnetbank Primary School, Kelvindale Primary School and our most recent addition at Anderston Primary School, which also serves St. Patricks Primary School.

After School Care operates Monday to Friday during term time, from 3pm to 6pm. From the start of the school year in August we also offer a service for Primary 1 children from 12pm.
Activities
After School Care (ASC) offers many fun and interesting activities, including physical play - team games and sports (outdoors when the weather allows!), arts & crafts, reading corner, board games, music and much more...
A recent funding award allowed the ASC services to purchase some ICT equipment including laptops and digital cameras for working on projects, creative activities and recording events.
Snacks
Glasgow YWCA promotes healthy all round development and the clubs offer healthy snacks for children such as fresh fruit, smoothies, yoghurts and filled rolls. We are happy to take into account any dietary requirements that individuals have, including allergies, likes and dislikes.
School Holidays
During most school holidays ASC services offer a play scheme which operates on weekdays from 8am to 6pm. Activities are themed each week, incorporating new activities and subjects of learning, as well as the opportunity for children to develop their social skills and make friends with peers from different schools. Each week we take a trip as a group to a local place of interest, such as parks, beaches and visitor centres.
Quality Service
All Glasgow YWCA After School Care services are staffed by experienced individuals who are committed to ongoing training and development, and perhaps most importantly will provide a welcoming and supportive environment for each child. We operate an Equal Opportunities policy and are committed to the development of quality after school care which places a clear emphasis on the social and educational welfare of each child as an individual.
All staff are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure check and are registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). They also undertake training in Aids/HIV related illnesses, working with children with additional needs, Elementary Food & Hygiene, First Aid, Child Protection, Respect Me Anti-Bullying, Children with Aspergers and Autism, Epi-pen training, and Protective Behaviours.
We aim to provide a flexible service that responds to the needs of parents in the local area and always welcome ideas on how we can improve. Please contact us with any queries or comments.
Our parents guide 'How to use your club' gives a brief overview of the most important pieces of information for parents using the after school service. Full policies and procedures can be viewed upon request.
