Fundraising
Glasgow YWCA is a financially independant organisation, and relies heavily on grants and voluntary donations. Funds donated enable us to support young women in Glasgow to improve their lives through learning, and enable us to remove the barrier of childcare which is a cost that often limits parents choices in life. Any money you can donate or help you can give us to raise funds will be gratefully received.
Donate...
If you make a donation to Glasgow YWCA it can support our services in many ways... from buying toys or equipment for our childcare services, to textbooks and materials for our lifelong learning classes, or paying for tutor and volunteer costs.
£20 will pay for 1hr tuition for a class of up to 15 women.
£35 will pay for up to 5 children to attend the creche in the FLC for 1 hour while their mothers attend a class.
£423 will pay for one learner to attend a class each week for a year while their child is looked after in our creche.
To make a donation to Glasgow YWCA please send a cheque or postal order (please do not send cash in the post) to Glasgow YWCA, 3 Newton Terrace, Glasgow G3 7PJ. Alternatively you could pop into the Family Learning Centre, or look for one of our collecting cans in the local area.
This year we are working in partnership with Sainsbury's on Woodlands Road to raise funds and awareness of Glasgow YWCA in the local community. We will be holding regular events with staff from the store and you will find collecting cans and buckets at the checkouts for any spare change you might have.

Collecting Cans
We are always looking for new locations to display our purple collection boxes, and volunteers to empty and collect boxes in their area. If you would be interested in becoming a collecting can guardian please contact us.
Street collections (at your football/rugby ground for example) are also a great and simple way to raise money and awareness for Glasgow YWCA. To do this however, you must obtain permission and a license, if collecting in a shopping mall, supermarket or railway/bus station, permission must be given by the manager of the premises.
Please call us for more information or help to arrange this on 0141 248 5338 or email fundraiser@ywcaglasgow.org
Recycling...
Recycling is one of the easiest and greenest ways you can support Glasgow YWCA. Best of all it costs you nothing!
We have four different recycling points within the family learning centre:
- Mobile phones (damaged or working)
- Used printer cartridges
- Jewellery (can be precious metal or costume jewellery and even watches. Broken or working.)

- Textiles (clothes, linen, curatins, belts, shoes, handbags)
Just drop any of the above items into the Family Learning Centre at 3 Newton Terrace and we will arrange for them to be recycled and/or reused, which protects the earth's natural resources and generates funds to keep our services running at the same time.
Fundraising Events
We are developing some fundraising events in the Family Learning Centre, to enable service users and members of the local community to become involved and find out more about our work.
Y Exchange
We have resurrected a popular fundraising event from several years ago, which enables everyone to donate and exchange or buy items of clothing to raise funds for Glasgow YWCA. Look out for our next event being advertised if you have any unwanted clothes that are in good condition which you could donate for sale.
Everyone is welcome to come along and bag some bargains at these event! Please see the Y Exchange flyer for more details.
