NEWS RELEASE

Sainsbury's Woodlands announces Local Charity of the Year

After customers and colleagues voted to choose a Local Charity Partner for Sainsbury's Woodlands Road, the store is delighted to announce that Glasgow YWCA has been selected to benefit this year.
Sainsbury's colleagues will support Glasgow YWCA by giving their time to the charity through volunteer work. The store will also organise various fundraising activities throughout the year and is keen to raise awareness of the work that the charity undertakes to support people in Glasgow.

Store colleague Nadia Khan, who was involved in the selection process, said: "Glasgow YWCA really stood out as a local charity that we could really benefit through volunteering and fundraising. It's great to be supporting Glasgow YWCA help local people."

The store will kick-off the partnership with Glasgow YWCA from 28th June. In-store collections will take place regularly and customers will be invited to join in and support planned fundraising activities.

Sandy Loch, Sainsbury's store manager said,"We are really pleased and excited to support Glasgow YWCA. The hard work starts now, but I can definitely see our store building a strong relationship with Glasgow YWCA and making a difference to their work."
