Anderston ASC Opens!

30th April 2009

After months (and months!) of planning and gathering support from the local community, Glasgow YWCA opened it's third After School Care (ASC) Service in Anderston Primary School on Monday 20th April, 2009.

Glasgow YWCA already operates two after school clubs, in Garnetbank Primary School and Kelvindale Primary School, and identified through consultation with our service users and teachers in the Anderston area that this service would be a valuable amenity to parents and carers living and working in the local area, who wanted to continue in education, training or employment throughout the day until 5 or 6pm. The provision of quality childcare enables these parents to develop their own potential, whether in self confidence, financially, or in their potential employment prospects, whilst in the knowledge their child is safe, in a fun and stimulating environment.  Children from both Anderston Primary School and St. Patrick's Primary School are welcome to attend.

With support from Glasgow City Council Childcare Strategy Fund and Anderston/City Area Committee, as well as the primary schools of Anderston and nearby St. Patrick's, Glasgow YWCA has developed a service that will care for up to 30 children between the hours of 3 and 6pm on weekdays, during term time.  We also aim to provide play schemes during most school holidays, which run from 8am until 6pm.
