About Us

YWCA Scotland enables women, particularly those under 30, to develop their full potential and participate at all levels of societyCelebrating Diversity

We ensure our services are welcoming, inclusive and relevant to all minority and marginalised groups. We oppose direct or indirect discrimination on the grounds of gender, ability, ethnicity, sexuality and faith in our provision of services and within our membership, and will campaign to achieve these ends.

Valuing Volunteers
As a volunteer-led organisation YWCA Scotland is strongly committed to volunteering as a major force for empowering women of all ages, building self esteem, sharing existing skills and developing new ones. We need volunteers to contribute their time, expertise, energy and enthusiasm and in return we will work to ensure that each volunteer enjoys their involvement and gains from it in reaching their own personal potential.

We believe in…

  • Respect for self and others
  • The acceptance of difference and diversity and the promotion of non-discriminatory attitudes
  • Honesty, openness and trust within the organisation and its members
  • The right of every individual to reach their potential as a whole person and to achieve their goals
  • Encouraging personal and social responsibility
  • The equal value of every individual and their right to have their voice heard
We are committed to…
  • Seeking resources for our work and managing those resources effectively
  • Forming partnerships with other agencies to the benefit of users and members
  • Implementing effective governance and management structures
Providing good quality experiences and services for young women including staff and volunteers
  • Giving a voice to all involved with the YWCA, routinely consulting and offering a chance to participate in decision making
  • Valuing the skills and experiences of staff and volunteers and providing opportunities for their development and further learning
  • Seeking to promote equal opportunities for women and working with other organisations to achieve this
